Real Dads Reveal What They Want for Father’s Day
Is it just me, or do you find it difficult to buy presents for the men in your life, too?
Two weekends ago, I sat down with a few dads at a birthday party and asked them what they wanted for Father’s Day. Some of their answers surprised me. I never would have thought that men would want some of these things. But here’s the list — straight from the horses’ mouths.

1. Expensive Socks ($18 and up)
That’s right. One dad said he’d never buy them for himself, but he’d love it if someone got him high quality, luxurious socks. If your man’s on his feet all day long, you might consider treating him to some.
2. Waterproof smartPhone Case ($70)
Catalyst’s website says this is the “most protective case in the world” and it’s design is sleek, too.
3. Sous Vide Water Oven ($429)
The dads I spoke with were all talking about the Sous Vide (pronounced soo-veed), which means “under vacuum” in French. Sous vide cooking is a gourmet cooking technique that involves preparing food in vacuum-sealed pouches and submerging them in a controlled-temperature water bath. According to some friends who have tried it, the results are amazing.
4. Charging station and jewelry box ($60)
This was another one of those “I’d never buy it for myself” items that the men said they’d love to have. Who knew?
5. a Massage (varies)
Each of the dads said he’d love to get a massage for Father’s Day. One even said he’d want a full spa treatment, complete with a mani/pedi.
6. Apple Watch ($349 and up)
Of course, ALL the dads wanted the Apple watch. Who could blame them? I mean, is there anything this watch can’t do?
I’m adding one more gift that I thought looked interesting online…
7. Mantry ($85 and up)
Mantry delivers Artisan food products and recipes right to your door. You can get one crate or go for the 3 or 6 month subscriptions. Order by June 17th for Father’s Day shipping.
So, there you have it, ladies. No more mystery. What’s your favorite item on the list? Tell me in the comments below.
Wishing you and your family a Happy Father’s Day!

Great list. Thanks for the ideas, Pam! Our Fathers Day tradition is for the kids to pick a tie for Dad to wear to church (and he HAS to wear it, no matter what it looks like). They’ve come up with some pretty fabulous buys! 🙂
That’s hilarious, Shalon! Love it!
