Writing Your Mama Manifesto
A couple of years ago in an online business course, the leader challenged me to write my own manifesto for Less Drama More Mama.
A manifesto is a written declaration of one’s core beliefs, values, intentions, and vision for the future. It comes from the Latin word “manifestus,” meaning to manifest, reveal, or make real.
Here’s what I created for that course:
Doing this exercise helped me get clear on my company’s values, what I stand for, and what I believe.
Now I’m challenging YOU to write your very own Mama Manifesto. Why? Because writing this stuff down will help you get focused, take stock of how you’re living your life, and ask yourself, “Am I living according to my values?”, “Where am I struggling?”, and “What changes do I need to make in order to manifest the vision I have for myself and my family?”
You can choose to write your manifesto alone, with a partner, or as a family. It doesn’t have to take a long time or look fancy at all. Here’s a quick-start guide:
Set a timer for 10-20 minutes and write down as much as you can starting with the following phrases:
I (we) believe…
I (we) value…
I (we) am committed to…
It’s important to me (us) that…
I (we) want to be remembered for…
When the timer goes off, go back and put things in order and edit.
I’d love to see your Mama Manifesto when it’s done. Share it with me on Instagram or Twitter with the hashtag #mamamanifesto and tag @lessdramamama. I can’t wait to see what you create!
