Oh, My Word!

A year ago, I posted about my Word of the Year for 2015: ACHIEVE.

I promised to let you know if and how the strategy of choosing a motivating word of the year worked for me.

Being guided by the word ACHIEVE definitely influenced me to take more action and risk. For example, I achieved my goal of getting more comfortable on camera by using Periscope to broadcast live about parenting issues. It required me to get out of my comfort zone and the payoff has been well worth it.

Besides that, I achieved:

  • Creating and leading two Chill Out Challenges
  • Creating and leading The Keep Cool Camp
  • Teaching my first two teleclasses
  • Organizing two social events for former clients
  • Continuing to coach private clients
  • Getting hired at my daughters’ school
  • Finding the means to stay in my house following my divorce
  • Maintaining important relationships with family and friends

Perhaps my most important achievement was my ability to keep cool through all the ups and downs of 2015. I’ve found that the more I practice staying calm, the easier it gets.

So, now it’s time to choose a word for 2016.

oh my word

I’m going with GROWTH.

I want to grow my business, my blog readership, and the number of families I serve. I also want to learn even more about family and step-family dynamics, and prioritize scheduling regular self-care.

What word did you choose last year and how did it impact you? What word will you choose this year? Leave your ONE word in the comments below. Feel free to say a little something about why you chose it, too.

Hi Pam! Many congrats on your achievements in 2016. I’ve been choosing a word for the last few years now. I love the extra focus it gives me. My word for 2015 was HEALING. I had some health niggles I couldn’t shake for the last couple of years, (pain in my hands from too much computer work, and plantar fasciitis from a running injury) and I knew I had to take more care of myself, slow down and listen to my body. I’m pleased to report that both issues have magically disappeared and I am pretty much 100% well again. I feel so blessed, and grateful to have my body back. My word for 2016 is IMAGINE. It’s the word I’m drawn to, and I feel it will help me find calm solutions to small issues as well as driving me on towards my big dreams in 2016. I’ll report back at the end of the year and let you know if it works! Happy holidays. I hope 2016 brings you everything you dream of. 🙂
